8th Sakıp Sabancı International Awards to Be Presented
Established to honor the legacy of the late Sakıp Sabancı, the Honorary Chairman of Sabancı University, the 8th “Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards” will be presented at a ceremony hosted by Board of Trustees Chair Güler Sabancı and President A. Nihat Berker at the Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum the Seed on Wednesday, June 26.
Under an overarching theme of Turkish and Islamic art and the history, economy and sociology of Turkey, this year’s awards by Sabancı University are given under the title “Checks and Balances in Democracy: the Turkish Case from a Comparative Perspective.”
Ayşe Kadıoğlu of the Sabancı University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will address the audience on behalf of the international jury panel of distinguished scholars. The second “Special Jury Award on Islamic Art and Culture” will also be given. The Master of Ceremonies will be actress Ceyda Düvenci.
